5 Door Prizes from The TaxBook
Many of you have seen our display models of The TaxBook products that we display monthly. Well, I spoke with their Customer Service Manager, Char DeGrote this morning. She told me that she has been sharing my tax updates with some of her authors. So who knows, maybe as you are using your TaxBook this year, you might see a little bit of me in there! How cool is that? She reminded me that the writers of The TaxBook are tax professionals like we are so they are writing from real-life experience.

I hope you have your TaxBook orders sent in already. They are shipping books right now. Anyway, Char was very gracious and is sending The Tax Network coupons for FIVE FastTaxFacts that will be door prizes at our FIRST WEDNESDAY in January! Thanks Char!

Our Holiday Gift - Free Lunch & Free CPE -
January 6th, 2012
About a year ago fifty of our friends joined us for a complimentary lunch and CPE at Maggiano’s at the Fashion Show Mall. Our host Mark Robertson, a Major in the US Army Reserve, could not join us that day because he had been called to active duty in Afghanistan. Many of you met Mark at our December meeting where he shared with us some interesting insights of his tour. Today Major Robertson is on his way to Germany to accept the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” which is the nation’s 5th highest award for military valor, and one not freely given. Before he left, he again offered ANOTHER COMPLEMENTARY LUNCH at that same great restaurant on Friday, January 6th at 11 am. Mark your calendar now to join us at Maggiano’s for another magnificent meal and 2 hours of CPE all FREE:

Navigating IRS.GOV
How often do you visit IRS.GOV? Twenty times a day would not be uncommon for me. It’s the quickest way to find answers in a hurry! Use your computer to SEARCH & FIND. Learn the latest and greatest methods to find QUICK ANSWERS. Your clients will think you know it all!

Cash Balance Defined Benefit Plan
Learn how you can add value for your business clients -- while adding fee income for your tax-planning services. A cash balance plan is a defined benefit plan that is very similar to a traditional pension but with a few features that more closely resemble a 401(k) defined contribution plan. This timely training will help you identify opportunities during this tax-season to help business owners lower their 2012 taxable income.

RTRP Exam is Now in Las Vegas!
Wow the RTRP exam is being offered in Las Vegas! After you access your PTIN account at irs.gov, click on “Maintain your PTIN,” then click on “Schedule Test.” Experts at NATP tell us that an experienced tax pro should be able to pass the test with 20 hours of study. If you would like some help studying, the Nevada chapter of NATP is hoping to present monthly classes alternating between Reno and Las Vegas so stay tuned!

PTIN Help is Here!
Preparers who no longer have access to the email addresses associated with their PTIN accounts or who do not remember what email address they used when obtaining a PTIN can now update their email addresses without logging into their accounts.

Simply select “Forgot or Cannot Access Email?” from the Tax Professional PTIN System. Preparers must know their Last Name, Date of Birth, PTIN, Social Security Number, and the answer to their Secret Question in order to use this functionality.

You only have until December 31 to renew!
