Speakers and Topics

What a great way to kick off the new year! We have the honor to present two award winning teachers on the same day. Come to this annual event to hear discussion on the latest Tax Law Updates and Changes as they appear on the tax forms.

Cathy Clow, EA
was recognized this summer as the winner of the “Excellence in Education” award by the NAEA. She will bring the latest from the Franchise Tax Board of California in her January presentation. Cathy plans to present our group with information that she feels will be applicable in helping us prepare California Tax Returns for both our CA residents and CA Non-Resident Clients. Her presentation keeps us updated on current issues with the Franchise Tax Board including Employment and Sales Tax changes.

Marti Myers-Garver, EA received the “Outstanding Volunteer of the Year” award by the NAEA because of her 8,000 mile treks into military combat zones to teach our military forces to prepare taxes. Her discussion will challenge you with the complexities of determining who really is a qualified child and which individual can claim that child. She’ll also discuss filing status issues which are getting more complicated as our families continue to fracture. Marti routinely provides training for the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
